  • Both of these characters excel on the ground and have very fast frame data. The biggest difference, is that Little mac has faster ground frame data, but Ryu has significantly more tools.

  • I think RYU woukd win. he's better in the air and his focus punch to true shoyuken is amazing

  • Ryu would destroy Mac!?!? He has more attack options including his bread-and-butter the Hadoken!

  • It probably won't be as long as last one because I'm bad at playing both of them, but I'll try. I feel like range-wise they are pretty even. Little Mac probably has more range on more moves, but Ryu's Medium Jab and Fsmash have great range too. As you said, both have great ground games. But in different ways. Little Mac can abuse his speed to run circles around Ryu, waiting for opening and...

  • punishing, while Ryu combos like crazy and kills early with Input Shoryuken, into which he can combo too X_X But, Little Mac won't have many openings against Ryu. Because barely any moves are laggy or easily punishable. Ones I can think of are Hadouken, missed Shoryuken and Fsmash. And getting out of Ryu's Dtilts/utilts is a nightmare. And SDI'ing into the air puts Mac at disadvantage too.

  • Kill power wise, Mac's smashes are very strong (and super armor makes them pretty safe), but Shoryuken is stronger and faster. While Mac has KO punch, it's only few occasions and whiffing just screams combo galore. In the air... Mac destroys... ... ... I hope you didn't take this one seriously. Mac's Nair is faster than all Ryu's aerials (yes, really, but it's so weak, like other aerials.

  • I guess he can ground lock with Dair or do semi-combos with help fairs, but generally they are weak and short ranged, while Ryu's have better range and power. In mid air, Little Mac's only air options are counter and Air Dodge (both baitable) Recovery... I don't think I need to say anything. Frame data. Both have excellent ones, but Ryu has THREE 2-3 frame move, while Mac has Frame 1 move

  • fastest possible. Ryu's Focus Attack seems unreliable here. While he can cancel it, Mac easily keeps up and has fast moves, so he'll break through its armor. I say Ryu wins due to having actual air game and being very hard to punish. ...and that was longer than I expected XD

  • This is also a 'Martial Arts vs Boxing'. To be honest, both are balanced, but I concur on Ryu having more tricks without the sleeve [bad joke]. Mac can, however, put on a bit damage with just his side A [not the smash attack]. Yeah, this analysis could truly take a while. Lol.

  • Little Mac wins 60/40 in my opinion, there's not much Ryu can do about a Little Mac optimising his ground tech. Hadoken can't effctively stall Mac. Mac's frame data is so good that he just beats out Focus Attack. Mac's major weakness aside from recovery in his MUs is being air juggled but Ryu doesn't have the tools to keep Mac vulnerable in the air and Mac wins on the ground.

  • However, Ryu's Side B can catch out a Mac that is running around the stage too much. For that reason the Mac player should always be ready to Counter the Side B. Ryu can gímp Mac of course but not as easily as other characters. This is a very interesting MU due to both of them having no grab game. Despite Mac having the advantage imo, Ryu can potentially end his stock with true combos at 0%.

  • Ryu has a projectile, which forces LM to come to him. The Shaku is multihitting, even if perfect shielded, you can't drop shield immediately, otherwise you get hit. Focus attack is good for a smash read, which can end a stock. And Ryu's grab game, while sub par, isn't too bad. Little Mac is much more predictable. Almost always on ground, very few mix ups. The opposite can be said for Ryu.

  • So far I actually feel Ryu wins this 60-40 IMO. Mac may have ridiculous frame data, but Ryu isn't too far behind. LM obviously has his bad recovery kryptonite, and Ryu actually has good recovery. LM is also lightweight, which means he dies earlier to true shoryuken, which kills him at like 75 with no rage, which Ryu can combo into with a frame 2 down tilt.

  • I play both of these characters very frequently, and I really feel like Ryu has got this one.

  • Well, it seems that the general consensus is that Ryu wins this match up. Not that I'm surprised, a lot of the competitive community doesn't really respect Mac. Oh well, congrats Ryu!
