    Try doing ur best during splatfests. If they have that many strengths, find a weakness, like, Speed... Bombs... etc.

    Don't worry! They have their gear and you have your gear. Splatoon wouldn't be fun if everyone wore the same thing, simply because of the buffs. If they mostly have strength, use bombs and ink mines for sakes matters! Try doing the spiderman(Going on the wall and splatting from behind).[No Wonder i had splatted someone 8 times!]

    well theres either "cheating" to get a gear combo, or your super lucky. Most of them arent cheated for. (if that makes sense.)
