They've done the one thing I didn't want them to do: gimmick it. They gimmicked it with colour. The reason the first two were popular because there were no gimmicks.

Graphics wise, I think it looks great. I'm not too fond of the card battles. I wish they would make another one like The Thousand Year Door.

I like it, I think it has potential. But we'll have to wait till later to know more about it and it might (unlikely though) change my mind about it. The paint mechanic reminds me a little bit of Super Mario Sunshine but in reverse. The battle system does remind me of Sticker Star but it looks like it might have fixed some of the problems that I had with it. That is what I think of Paper Mario: CS.

@Keegan: I think the reason why we haven't seen a new Paper Mario game in the vain of the first two is because the team responsible for the series has decided that style no longer fits Paper Mario. I think they decided that a Art & Crafts theme is the best style for a series set in a paper world. Hopefully we will see a RPG game like the first two but I don't think they'll be Paper Mario games.

If the cards are treated like bro. attacks and you still have standard attacks, I'm ok with the battle mechanics.

I don't think they will work that way but between the card store and the fact that it looks like you may not permanently lose a used card. Makes me think that the battle system will be a little better than in Sticker Star.

Well if that is what you think about it then don't buy it when it comes out. Also on a different note did the new trailer for Metroid Prime: Federation Force change your mind about that game?

I think Mario Paper: Color Splash looks interesting and I will probably buy it no matter what anyway, even if there are things in it am not a 100% pleased with :-). If the card system ends up being a tactical resource managing card battle system where the card goes back to you hand after being used I am all in for if it is good ^^. (Will go to bed now, but will comment tomorrow).

Is there another game shown off in the recent Direct you want to talk about?

Sticker Star 2.0. It just dosen't look like a real Paper Mario game. Super Paper Mario wasn't either, but it didn't really try to be like Sticker Star. Sticker Star looked like it tried to add a new mechanic and maintain the Paper Mario fashion, but it failed.

It looks like the guy talking about MPFF was trying to make people think it diserves to be in the MP Universe.

Story wise it does because it acts as a bridge that connects the 4th game with the other three. So in that sense it does belong in the Metroid Prime universe.

Another way you can look at Metroid Prime: Federation Force is as a spin-off and spin-offs don't star the lead character from whatever it spin-offed from but one of the other characters. So in that sense it would explain why Samus isn't the star here. But I have a feeling that it won't change your opinion. Besides what you think about it I'm still interested in both games mentioned in this post.
