What's wrong with Dr. Mario, Lucina, and Dark Pit?

    You exactly get my point. People just hate them by their appearance, when they could have experience the characters instead.

    Part of why we disslike them is because they could are taking up the roster when they could be skin variations and giving room to a wider variety of fighters

    @Alex: The thing is, their slots wouldn't exist if they were palete swaps. Those slots are for those characters, NO ONE ELSE. We'd be missing three characters if it were just PS's.

    Dr.Mario is fine cause he's a semi clone, he plays a bit differently from Mario. Lucina is okay cause not having the tipper mechanic makes her play slightly different, and can be useful for training Marth mains. Dark Pit has almost no excuse, they could've given him at least 1 move that was entirely different, or slightly different frame data, but no. He feels like a lazy addition.

    Dark Pit's Upperdash, Sliver bow and arrows, and Final Smash are WAAYYYYYYYY different from Pit, Lucina, almost not different from Marth, and Dr. Mario, is just Mario.

    Pit and Dark Pit may be similar in A LOT of ways, but they have totally different play styles. Dark Pit is more OnStage oriented and rewards riskier behavior. Pit is more OffStage and rewards thoughtful behaviour (combos, punishes, ect.).

    You know, I don't really see what the fuss is about for clones because i'm sure that the programmers put them there for a reason, and even if they didn't exist, it would have happened in the future anyways.

    Clones = more characters. Dr. Mario and Lucina were originally going to be color swaps for Mario and Marth (and looking at Brawl, Dark Pit probably was too.) They don't "take up a slot," they exist to make the character roster bigger.
