Now that the hype has died down, how good do you think Cloud actually is?

His up-air has insane priority. He doesn't have good combo potential (unless you get a read or something) but he benefits greatly from proper zoning/spacing. i.e he can be a monster in the right hands.

His recovery is probably the worst in the game but apart from that, Cloud is actually pretty cool. His Limit Break move enhances his specials which are pretty powerful on their own. His Smash Attacks aren't that bad either. His different costumes look good as well. The Midgar Stage is one of my favourite stages now. Overall, I'd give Cloud from Final Fantasy VII a 7/10.

I honestly don't think his recovery is THAT bad. He has a wall jump, after all. He also has a guaranteed combo (dthrow into turn around jab) but the rest is dependent on the opponent not reacting fast enough. (Dthrow into cross slash, nair, etc.) All in all, though, he's really good. (Hence why he's my secondary.)

My main quip with fighting against him, though, is that he kills REALLY early, especially that fsmash. Sure, it has endlag, but it's hugely damaging to sheilds,

although hard to set up combo`s, if you do set one, it can be devasting especially if you combo it into F-air. his down-jab can both combo at low-meduim % and save yourself from a tough situation. other jabs are good KO options too. back and neutral air are both good for approaching if used right and neutral can possibly set up a combo. up-air can be crazy (hit confirm) but is a risky undertake.

F-smash has good knock-back and damage, but its lag hinders its utility, VERY punishable. down-air has a crazy spike and `lingers` after use so its useful for a retreat when necessary. recovery is arguably worser then little macs becaus his only option of recovering is from. below making him vulnerable to edge-gaurding. limit break fix this but the fact that it cancels limit break is meh.

(fergot to mention) up-tilt and up-smash can combo alot too if used right, but again, hard to setup. limit break specials can KO very early if you menage to read your opponents, otherwise...

overall, he rewards reading your opponent the mist, punishing high-damaging possibly deadly with F-air, or netting early ko`s with limit specials. his edge-gaurding and recovery game are pretty lackluster though. surely mid-tier, pretty possible high-tier but not really higher then that. i give him 7.8/10. aaaaaaaaaand.... i talked your ear off again. XD dang my cloud intenseness.

Well, he's fun. And think he'd be bottom high/high middle tier (I don't like this word :P) He has great aerials, especially Uair. Fast, lasts long, can combo a bit AND is a kill move. His frame data is pretty good, just few slower (but rewarding) moves. Limit Break gives insane mindgames. People tend to shield a lot when fully charged in fear of Finishing Touch (kills SO early, love it).

And all his LB's have killing power (even up b, but this one is hard to set up). Side B deals huge damage and impressive knockback, Blade beam becomes multihit and can be used for early kills offstage. While his combo game is meh, he doesn't feel like he needs it. Only bad thing is his recovery. Climhazzard doesn't snap edges and goes only straight up, basically letting opponent charge a smash...

...at you. Sure, he has a wall jump, but so does Little Mac :P Generally I really enjoy him and think he is one of better characters.

He's not exactly overpowering. His complete lack of a grab game and hit-and-miss recovery make him manageable, but then again Fox has similar problems(shield beats him HARD at high %) and he's top 20. Cloud's already got some promising results; I can see him being a legit threat. Not as good as Pit(s) or Ike imo but that is definitely subject to change. Let's see how he does at Gen 3 this weekend!
