Welp.

So, I got a GameCube adapter today, and bought a new controller with it. I'm happy, but there's this glaring unhappiness there, and it's that the adapter ONLY works with Smash, nothing else. Even though, they could do updates with a bunch of games to add GameCube controller functionality. And I think that'd be a good idea, because as it stands, I just blew $50 on one game, apparently.

  • I just think there's some wasted potential here. This thing sold REALLY well-- so why just make it so that it's only usable with ONE game? And sure, you can use the controller with an actual GameCube. But I bought it for the WiiU. They could update a bunch of titles like the NES and SNES VC titles to add this functionality, and I really feel that they need to.

  • Agreed, that's kinda unfortunate.

  • I know most people find it disappointing, but the GameCube Controller Adapter was only made to attract the competitive Smash players to play Smash 4, and it worked. It was never meant to be used with other games on the Wii U.

  • It should still work with the Wii mode on the WiiU-- It's the same as the original Wii just without backwards-compatibility for GameCube games, for crying out loud! Other original Wii games were compatible with GameCube controllers!

  • The Nintendo GameCube Controller adapter was only made for specialized games like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It says that on the box itself. I don't think it will ever be used with other games, since that would effect Wii U Pro Controller sales.

  • i play just fine with the wiiu game pad. Why waste 50$ on a controler from the early 2000's?
