Also, Steve isn't as important as a (former) indie rep while characters like Shantae and even Shovel Knight has done more for Indies then Steve. People literally HATED Minecraft Wii U's announcement which had nothing to do with Smash, and this fanbase can complain about everything. Combine the 2, and absolutely nobody would like his inclusion. Sakurai knows the limit of a characters irrelevance

@Legend Cloud =/= Square-Enix They could've easily chosen someone like Sora instead, but they didn't. That means Cloud is there for being an icon alone. Steve, like it or not, is from a game that is so popular that it could be classified as iconic. I'm only correcting A Mistake's (ironic, huh?) comment since a third-party character doesn't need strong ties to Nintendo to be in Smash.

They couldn't have easily chosen Sora because 1. Sakurai wants absolutely nothing to do with Disney 2. Sora isn't as big as a VIDEO GAME character as Cloud. 3. This is a game of VIDEO GAME characters. Which sounds better? The Disney crossover dude or an RPG gaming icon? Nobody was exited for Minecraft Wii U because they thought the BIG announcement was Smash DLC, new app for 3ds/Wii U…

@Legend Steve is no longer a troll vote. Sakurai has the following criteria for third-party characters: 1. Character must be from a video game. 2. Both companies must agree on character. 3. Character must carry gaming history with them. Steve fits 2/3 requirements, so he has a chance. I'd say a small one, but a chance nonetheless.

…relevance to Nintendo gaming Icons, NX news, future updates, etc. But instead they got a game (that we already have) port for a slightly overrated character with no previous relevance to Nintendo. For once i can't blame fans, if Nintendo says it's gonna be BIG then I'd also think of something wild.

-there's already "Minecraft for WiiU edition" created just last year. Therefore, Steve can't be in Smash because Microsoft doesn't want to be overwhelmed with all this work they're doing. They have plenty of stuff to do!

Steve still is a troll vote Over 50% of the smash fanbase thinks he's a stupid character (that would be irrelevant but BALLOT WISE…) All previous 3rd parties (and companies) have huge history (not just age) with Nintendo and have actually done something for them. Were iconic enough Steve is just an indie that was sold away to a rival company.
