Bayonetta's Flaws

A lot of people think that Bayonetta will be OP solely on her trailer and her presentation by Sakurai. But from the same video, it's pretty apparent she has some glaring flaws that will make her more balanced then most people think.

  • 1= Witch Time. This counter has very precise timing, and when you don't have the timing, Bat Within activates instead. Lots of people will try to activate Witch Time, thus taking damage from Bat Within for practically free.

  • 2= Combos are slow to start. Good players will know to attack Bayonetta as fast as possible, so she cannot start a combo. Looks like without her Combos, Bayonetta is a fairly weak character.

  • 3= Her up recovery is off the charts, I admit. BUT, she doesn't seem to have ANY horizontal recovery. Witch Twist looks Vertical only. ALSO, when activating Witch Twist for a second time, Bayonetta is now open for any attack, unable to do anything. Use it to your advantage. Most people will try to combo with 2 Witch Twists, leaving Bayonetta powerless 'till she touches the ground, which can be a l

  • **long way down. 4th is only a speculation, but she seems like a very light character. Meaning she will take punishment very badly, easy to knock off the screen and be KOd at low percentages. Of course, we'll know everything there is to know about Bayonetta in Smash when she's released next month. :)

  • 4 has no proof til she is released, and Bat Within doesn't damage Bayonetta.

  • In a sense, yes. Because she takes a fraction of what the attack from the opponent does. and Bat Within takes time, so the opponent is not open for any counter-attacks if the player has good reflexes.

  • Still that doesn't mean Bat Within deals damage, that means Bat Within reduces damage.

  • and also, that's why I said ''Only a speculation'' for number 4 ;) Pretty sure she's gonna be a lightweight though.

  • She seems more like a middle weight character based on the video.

  • Exactly. She looks like a character that is very powerful in the right hands, but you have to put a good amount of time and patience to get the hang of.

  • I admit, I could've worded the Bat Within bit differently, my bad on this one :P Middleweight, maybe. heh, who knows? All I know is despite some flaws, she looks like a unique character and I cannot wait to try her out in the world of Smash. Corrin as well. I just like unique characters. :D

  • "who knows?" Ask me that question now and in a month I'll return with an appropriate answer.

  • Actually about her recovery, she can use side b. I also believe that she can't use a second witch twist without jumping first, and if that's the case, her vertical recovery is quite terrible without her second jump.

  • From the trailer, she looked like a nerfed Zero Suit Samus. Now, good, dedicated Smash 4 players will find a way to work around that, considering people main with Diddy.

  • Also a speculation, by watching the trailer, there are 2 ways to activate Double Witch Twist, one of which has you Up-B, then jump, then Up-B This recovery combination might disadvantage players who uses Tap Jump (Up = Jump), since they might accidentally use their 2nd jump before Up-B

  • However she may fight, strengths and flaws, I'll buy her and expose her weaknesses no different from what I'll do to Corrin or what I did to the previous 5 DLC characters. That's what being a good player is all about. And we shall see next month!
