Has anyone ever played Sword of Mana on GBA? It was a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure/Seiken Densetsu from the original Gameboy. I'm playing through Secret of Mana now, and I'm wondering if Sword is any good. Any thoughts?

  • From what I saw, Sword of Mana is a complete overhaul. Kind of like what Zero Mission is to the original Metroid? I don't know if they got rid of the grinding, though.

  • I have it but haven't played it since whenever it released. The only thing I remember is that I didn't like it nearly as much as Secret. I was probably expecting Secret 2 and was disappointed when it wasn't. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • I can understand that. I had a similar reaction with Trine, which came out years after Trine 2 on Wii U. Even though it was an enhanced version of the original, it was still far less impressive than Trine 2. Still, it's fairly cheap on Amazon...And I don't have that many GBA games. I think I'll give it a shot.

  • Do it! It looks to be one of the better games in the series. I envy your ownership of a GBA! I add Legend of Mana to the list I recently quoted you; just found it on sale for $3.00 on PlayStation Store! Legend was on the top of my list of ''not so good Mana'' games.

  • I thought everyone on Earth had at least one GBA laying around somewhere...

  • Not me. I was very late to the handheld scene, with the DSiXL being my first system. I rely heavily on VC and as such may never play Sword.

  • Well, Square-Enix just put their first Wii U VC game up today, and it's a GBA game. So it may show up sooner or later.

  • Fingers crossed. That game + Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission are the GBA games I've always wanted.

  • Honestly, Fusion and Zero Mission are worth buying a GBA alone. You can get them fairly cheap. Or just buy an old DS Lite, since it has a GBA cartridge slot. That's what I usually use. Of course, now they're on VC, but I actually prefer to keep my portable games on the small screen. Especially on an HDTV, GBA games look really bad and pixelated.
