  • He's too OP. It would take several patches to nerf him to less-than-godlike status.

  • He's owned by Rare, who is owned by Microsoft...

  • Nintendo has no interest in attempting to use Microsoft's characters, even if they could work out an agreement. It is counter-intuitive.

  • Paul I agree with you, but putting cloud In smash uped sales on the play station network with there re released of ff7 and the remake of ff7. This is kinda a head screatcher if you ask me. Note not bashing on cloud (he's a great addition to the game)

  • Well, there's no telling whether or not the NX will get the FF7 remake. Also, you are correct, but Sony doesn't own Cloud. Dozens of Final Fantasy games are available on Nintendo consoles - yes, Cloud's debut title isn't among them, but if you look at it from the perspective that Cloud is a rep from the most famous RPG series of all time, it makes sense. More than using a Micrsoft-owned character.

  • The problem with Conker is that toning him down would be an equivalent to Sakurai's reasons on why Ridley can't be in. Most of Conker's moves would be similar to content you would find on MA/R/AO rated content like South Park or the majority of Adult Swim's original content. Taking that away from him would cost the loss of his appeal.

  • I mean think about it. His game, despite being M rated, is more of an AO rated game (ESRB's "Adults Only" rating, which has yet to appear on a single game to date.) and as such, wouldn't translate well into Smash, especially when the original game was reasonably controversial and damaged Rare's reputation to the Non-Gaming Public and Microsoft knew of this.

  • Bayonetta and Snake on the other hand, are somewhat more safe to tone down for Smash. The Metal Gear series may be realistically serious, but it has its own sense of humor and breaks from reality at times (think Snake's ∞ ammo bandana from MGS2). The silly factor of Metal Gear is more emphasized in Brawl so the game can stay T-rated. Bayonetta is hard to explain but...

  • People argue that Bayonetta can't be in because of the enemies she fights, her guns, and of course, what happens when she uses her Wicked Weaves. However, the guns don't seem to violate the "no real guns" rule since they shoot magic bullets and the Wicked Weaves can easily be censored. Just look at how Anarchy Reigns censored her Wicked Weaves compared to how they appeared in the original games.

  • @X1Racer94 Have you played Conker's Bad Fur Day? He is entirely possible to tone down. In fact, I'd say his game is only borderline M-rated.

  • The point of Conker is that he's a cute and furry chipmunk that is also the bloodiest and the rauchiest chipmunk. Toning him down would be like toning down Bayonetta's "sexiness", it's a part of his character and he wouldn't be the same without it.

  • I'm sure there are plenty of characters who aren't portrayed to their fullest potential. Ganondorf is a skilled magic user and sword wielder, but in Smash he's mainly a fistfighter.

  • His sword is both a taunt and a custom move.

  • It boils down to licensing, not helping competitors, content of his games, as well as not being that iconic (as any other 3rd party character added) if a rare character was to be adeed it would be banzoo kazzoie or rash from battle toads
