If you wanted me to pinpoint the time at which Xenoblade Chronicles's plot started going downhill, I'd probably have to say sometime around the first visit to Alcamoth. Not only was this the first time I can remember at which Shulk was directly addressed as "the chosen one" by someone who isn't Alvis, it also contained the "High Entia politics" story arc which really didn't need to be there at all
