i have a question for you people
are you aware that not everyone has the internet to buy this game? should that make you say "hey thats bullsnot nintendo shouldn't do that" or "so? they'll just have to miss out on it" its not fair to them no one should be forced to miss out they're favorite franchises thats a reason why this needs a physical release, people need options

Carlos, thats cool that you noticed the Wii U's Hardcore Japanese appeal with Hack N' Slash games as opposed to say, the N64's Hardcore Western appeal with FPS games. I love hardcore J games and the Wii U has more 3D hack n slash games than many other consoles

carlos heres what you should realize. if disc readers seem to be breaking down, then it sounds like people aren't taking care of their systems. chances are if you know someone who is a professional you can have that person fix up that reader in no time and besides disc reader break downs aren't the only problem consoles can face my dreamcast use to face resesting problems and the controler port to

even if theres a digital only system chances are it can have any kind of trouble. even a console with with physical media can end up breaking, or if something goes there's always gonna be a possibility of repairing it easily, chances are you might have to send it off. it might cost alot but not has much has a new system. regardless of what console you'll have to put up a few troubles it might have

carlos do you want digital only to become the future of gaming? because if digital becomes the future video game stores will have to close down because they can't sell their games anymore, and worse should movies, books, and music all become digital only, their selected retailers will have to close down, other retailers will have to remove their entertainment sections like walmart, bestbuy, target

toys r us and more. toys r us could be only sell toys. walmart, target, and best buy could be only sell groceries, furniture, and other stuff but not their entertainment media. and whats worse costumers won't be able to buy these games, songs, books, movies, e.t.c do to lack of internet. seriously over 60% doesn't even have the internet many gamers and consumers will have to miss out on everything

Fatal Frame's file size is pretty bad, agreed Justin. But if the alternative is no Fatal Frame at all, I'd rather have digital. J-horror and fatal frame has been on the decline for years, stateside. I wish I could have a digital copy of Forbidden Siren 2, as well, rather than no copy.

(Idk if my last post posted) Agreed, Justin, the file size is cruddy, but I would rather deal with that than no release at all. I'd love a digital copy of Forbidden Siren 2, as well, rather than none. J-horror and fatal frame have been on the decline stateside for years. The developers probably made a good call doing digital only.

Sure, Bryon, but you are still a minority community compared to The Witcher, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dragon's Dogma, etc etc. And sales teams generally base their tactics on the majority, If they didn't- then ff:mobw would have a physical release, so i'm not quite sure of the point you are trying to make.

I honestly don't care for digital, ff:mbw is my only digital game. Would a digital takeover stink? Yes. Will it happen while the majority does not want or have access to it? No. Did they make a smart move releasing FF as a download only. VERY likely. FF has not had a US release since 3- which tanked.I just see the digital release as a prudent and justifiable move, that's all.

As for fairness and people's rights, that's like saying that books are offensive to the blind and illiterate. If somebody took no part in the making of a game or console, they really have no right to it. People gain access to it through publishing, and a developer tries to pick the best possible publisher.

Carlos I disagree. Me personally, if I have to pick between digital or not at all. I will pick not at all. There are other physical games to choose from between Wii U and the other consoles. I will find something to play between them. Also as to digital Fatal Frame being a good move for Nintendo. Well I would argue that Devils Third received a very limited physical release and it reviewed badly

months before it released in the US. If Nintendo could release a game that they thought months before it launched, was going to sell badly but released it physically anyway though in small quantities. Then there really is no excuse for no physical Fatal Frame. Besides we are Nintendos largest market, yet Europe and Japan both received physical editions. So again there really isn't any excuse.

I worked 11 years in the videogame industry. Though I am no longer apart of it, I still know a thing or two about it. I can tell you from experience that Fatal Frames handling by NOA was a lazy and cheap effort. If you build hype and advertise religiously you can sell just about anything. Nintendo just didn't want to bother to do that with Fatal Frame. Demand could have been higher if NOA tried.

Lastly Fatal Frame 3 sold poorly because it released late in the PS2 life cycle. Most consumers had moved on or where only buying big name franchises so they could save for there next console. The first two where overshadowed by an ocean of better known and advertised games. Fatal Frame never received any advertising other than print if I'm remembering right. Tecmo never had the advertising buget

it needed in order to properly advertise it's products. Besides has there ever been a Fatal Frame released in the US on a Nintendo console that sold poorly and caused NOA to make the digital only decision? No. This was essentially a new franchise for them as far as acquiring sales date went. They can't use past sales on other consoles as a excuse. Otherwise we would have never gotten Bayonetta 2.

Also Carlos you are right that people who had nothing to do with the development of a game or a console have no rights about how the product is handled from a legal stand point. However they are ultimately selling a product that they want people to buy. In order to do that they need to give said potential customers options that they want in order to make sure they get enough market saturation

for the product to be successful. Limiting peoples access to a game buy only selling it digitally is not doing everything they can do to ensure positive sales. It especially doesn't help when the franchise hasn't seen a new release in this market for a decade. What I'm saying is if you expect people to buy your stuff you HAVE to give them what they want, in a form they are willing to pay for.

Pretty much all of what Justin is saying echoes my sentiments down to a science. We shouldn't have to choose between "buy digital or don't buy at all" in this day and age. How absurd that NoA thinks it is okay to screw the consumer out of the choice to get a disc. This is why they get slammed and heralded as failures.
