    Technically, the names of them in Japanese are Takozonesu, which is a combination of Tako (Octopus) and amazones (referring to a strong female called an amazon)... ..so it would be too strange to have a male one.

    Well to my understanding Males are far and few between. But Look at Octavio he looks like the octoling octopus form, and in the sunken scrolls we see an Inkling and a Male Octoling sitting next to eachother. Octoling must be a Female dominated society.
