Zelda Fact #81: In the North American SNES and Virtual Console versions of A Link to the Past, Fairy is spelled as "Faerie". This was fixed in the GBA version.

    Then there's the Japanese version of Zelda II, in which Ganon's name was mispelled as "Gannon".

    Though this typo wasn't as bad as the "Tryforce" one, which was exclusive to thr Famicom version of Zelda II.

    This was the Famicom/NES era, spelling mistakes like those where everywhere. Fans forgave this because at this point in time, people were more concerned with playing the game than on reading plot related text. Most people probably pressed start before "The Adventure of Link" even appeared on the title screen anyways.

    True. But when you think about it, those who did read "Gannon" were probably shocked to see "Ganon" when A Link to the Past was released.

    Yeah, that might have been confusing. Speaking of confusion, I wonder how confused players were back then when they found it that there were two Zeldas and that the one you save in Zelda II is not the same one from the first game.
