Amiibo on the original 3DS.

I've got a Lucario Amiibo and want to use him on my 3DS. Obviously, it doesn't have the scanner the the New 3DS has. Am I out of luck? If that's so, it's ok. I'm happy I bought it anyways.

    There's a platform you can buy that connetcs via infered to the old 3ds similir to skylanders or disny infinity
