Would Dixie Kong and King K. Rool make too many DK characters?

DK isn't that popular in Japan, but FE is super popular and it gets 6 characters.

    it matters to sakarui. even if people want a certain character in, they won't necessarily get in. it's sakarui's decision, not ours.

    But it DOESN'T matter to Sakurai. He never based the games on who "DESERVES" to be in, rather he only puts in who he thinks would fit in or bring something unique. This whole "too much Fe, undeserving" argument is irrelevant since Sakurai gives no Shieks (see what i did there) about "deserving" additions.

    DK isn't as popular now as it was in the 80s and 90s(arguably more popular than Mario during the SNES days), but its still an undeniably popular series today. Tropical Freeze was one of the few games to sell over 1 million. And DK never died, yes it was on the backburner but it had several spinoffs during its hiatus, NEVER missing a nintendo system. And Cloud could still here, FF7 HD says hi.

    earthbound has two games worldwide, the 3rd failed to make to the americas, and the 4th failed completely. and the series is dead and may never be revived. why do we need 3+ earthbounders yet it died long ago?

    Because they'd be good fighters. This is a fighting game. Also if franchise relevance really mattered, we'd have more DK characters and Gamer Guy just said it's really popular today!

    It doesn't matter if they'd be unique. The fact of the matter is that earthbound is a dead series, and in case u didn't notice, dead series don't typically get new characters, the only expection being each installments "retro character(s).

    That's where you're wrong. The other characters can use different PSI moves from the games and there's one who doesn't have psychic powers but he uses inventions instead!

    Also the most important purpose of Smash of all is to be a fighting game about Nintendo characters. Certain characters are in since they'd be good at fighting!

    You flipped your argument in 2 sentences. Nintendo characters are the focus, & the dev team gets very creative to make odd characters work, but not everyone is destined to be a fighter. And again, EB isnt the only Nintendo game. DK, FZero, FE are all Nintendo games too, why should 1 small series get such a big leap in representation? If the game had 100 fighters, it'd be reasonable, but it doesnt

    For a dead series with only 3 games, a decent but not large modern following, and little cultural impact, 2 if a decent amount for the series. MAYBE 3, but no more then that.
