I have to agree that the idea of the Nintendo NX being released this year sounds like too soon. I mean, when are we assuming that Nintendo actually started designing the game? Sure, every company says they start as soon as the last one is finished, but at what point did they realise the Wii U had been a flop and decided to fast-track the NX?

  • Surely it was at least a year, knowing how long Nintendo takes to respond to stuff probably much longer. So if they didn’t push the panic button until, say, mid-2014 that clearly hasn’t been enough time to make any kind of high quality game. A good game takes at least two to three years, ideally longer, and clearly there’s not been enough time to start anything from scratch.

  • Presumably they’re repurposing games that were originally intended to be for the Wii U, but that means they’re unlikely to take advantage of anything the NX does, which is hardly going to make a good impression. I know predicting Nintendo is a mug’s game, but I just don’t see how things work out here purely from the perspective of time.
