My question is in what timeline is Zelda U going to appear in? I would have to think it would be in the child timeline, in the adult timeline Nintendo has always used Cartoony graphics. It wouldn't be in the Fallen Hero timeline either, I don't think Nintendo would expand on the one with so many games already.

My theory,(I have zero proof on this by the way, so it's more of a guess, but I like saying theory) is that it won't fall into the 3 split timelines, but be in the pre-timeline, before Ocarina of Time.

  • That is a possibility, but I think they would probably expand on the timelines, the series already has enough backstory before the split in my opinion.

  • My theory is that it takes place before or afte.r the original Legend of Zelda.

  • I can't write 'afte.r' because translated into German its 'anu.s'...

  • The reason the downfall timeline has so many games is because it was put together after the fact. My understanding is that those games weren't made with that timeline in mind, but that they decided later to lump them together. So it's not really fair to say that timeline is getting too much attention. Plus there hasn't been a console game in that timeline since 1991, and NEVER a 3D console game.

  • And I don't see the graphical style as restricting whether or not it could be in the adult timeline. FSA was in the child timeline and had the cell shaded style, and the pre-OoT timeline has varied quite a bit as well. Nintendo will just choose the art style that fits the gameplay and the story they want to tell. So I could see it taking place almost anywhere in the timeline.

  • I think of three possibilities either before SS, before Oot or after/before spirit tracks
