The next mobile app after Miitomo will apparently be a character that we fans are really familiar with. Nintendo has announced that their theme park partnership with Universal Studios will also involve Japan as well. (Nothing really on Nintendo Account, My Nintendo and Miitomo, but hopefully we will get some information tomorrow).

I don't know if I will make a new post tomorrow if we get a lot interesting information on Nintendo Account, My Nintendo and Miitomo, but we will see as I am thinking about it :-). Either way, still pretty good news today with the sales numbers ^^.

that explains a lot. not sure why wind waker HD didn't get over at least 2 million sales. and how come the 3DS sold more copies of smash then wii u did? l guess since the game was on the 3DS people would've rather been forced to buy the cheaper console to play the game. even if it was on unfitting hardware. that was a major opportunity loss for the spike in wii u sales during the smash craze. :\

l personally think making 2 versions hindered the latest smash installment. having to limit the roster by separating shiek and zelda and removing the ice climbers because the 3DS couldn't handle it doesn't sit well with me. they could've made 1 amazing version of smash 4 instead of just 2 good ones. besides, super smash bros. isn't really a 'on the go' or multitask kinda game.

I personally question if the Ice Climbers were left out due the limits of the 3DS... Nintendo had to make the 3DS version, the Wii U sale numbers are too low while the 3DS numbers are quite good (overall). Nintendo are in the business of making money, if you don't believe that then you need to understand that Nintendo are a public traded company. They answer to shareholders.

Problem is Nintendo is publically traded, same as my employer (Aviva) and we have to turn a profit. I know my shares went up by £1 per share due to business in Canada.

@jel and kira, actually it was because of the limitations of the 3DS. ice climbers were unique characters that deserved to stay but couldn't. and the shiek/zelda thing worked fine from before. if you wanted to play as one of them then just play as one of them. there were no advantages or disadvantages to it.

Crazy to think Splatoon is so close to Smash Bros. but that's due to the 3ds version taking up potential sales. But also interesting that's it's outselling Mario Maker by a good margin considering it's a Mario title that was fairly hyped but could be due to it being yet another 2d Mario.

And those Wind Waker sales....I guess people didn't want it a second time and not enough first time buyers, it would be interesting to see Twilight Princess sales in the coming months, and Triforce heroes really not doing well considering it's a new title that had actual marketing and on the 3ds with its huge install base.

Sakurai said that Zelda and Shiek/Samus and ZSS were separated, and Ice Climbers were removed strictly because of the 3DS version. Also, the 3DS version's existance left less people wanting the Wii U version, wrecking the Wii U console itself's sales improvement due to Smash.

Yes, the changes regarding transformations was because of the 3DS' limitations. I'm glad though as I think it worked out better (can finally use Samus' final smash without worrying about changing character). Also, I'm glad Ice Climbers are gone as they were obsolete anyway (their only game ever wasn't fun either).

1. More people own the 3DS than the Wii U. 2. The 3DS version came out first. Taking both of these into account, I'm surprised the Wii U version sold as many as it did.

Sigh, My Nintendo and Miitomo don't launch in Scandinavia in the middle of the March. Still comes to most of the middle-Europe-countries. Maybe later then...

Sean@ I don't think it is that strange that Splatoon are leading over Mario Maker due to coming out earlier and getting really popular in Japan :-). Also there are people like me who are more interested in other types of games like more story focused games, but I do own Mario Maker as I wanted to show it to someone I know. (Not really playing it though).

Sean@ I think I explained why I think maybe Wind Waker's sales number are as "low" as they are above to Hidalgo. I agree that seeing how Twilight Princess HD does will be interesting and I do think the final sale number for Twilight Princess HD than Wind Waker HD :-).

Sean@ Triforce Heroes seem a bit too weird to many people it seems and I can understand them to some degree, but I think Triforce Heroes are a really fun game regardless ^^. Also the sales are probably a bit affected by Triforce Heroes being a bit spin-offy than a normal Zelda game, which I think you can understand :-).

Jadon@ I agree that 3DS Smash probably caused some lower sales for the Wii u version and maybe even Wii Us sold as well to a degree like you said ;^^. Still there are people who own both versions like me and I do think a fair amount of the Wii U Smash owners own 3DS Smash as well :-). Either way, I can't really complain about having a 3DS version like I mentioned before here ;-).

Steve@ I am glad you like the changes though and I do see the benefit of separating the characters :-). As far as Ice Climbers goes I think a lot of people like them and main them, and logically they would want Ice Climbers back ;^^. Happy Mask@ Not sure if I am surprised, but I am glad the Wii u sold as much as it did at least :-). (Your points make logical sense).

Zado@ Yeah, we Scandinavians are getting My Nintendo as well like the other most relevant countries :-). As for Miitomo we would be included when it launch, but it was say in a way that could indicate that the first 16 countries were just a start ;-). I think the reason why we might get it later is because of translations to make sure that Miitomo launch with the country's language :-).

@steve, so wait the ice climbers are obsolete but cloud is acceptable? l agree with you on samus definitely but ice climbers had no good reason to go.

l just wish that shiek and zelda become one character again. Though they could still have their down B. Just make switching places a taunt move. Things will probably go back the way they were in the possible smash 5 for zelda, shiek, and ice climbers. well At least l hope they do. Sakurai has obviously made it clear he could do anything he wants with the smash series. Wether it be good or bad.

"News" My Nintendo: Platinum points - Used for digital content over multiple platforms. Will be able to get Platinum points by playing Nintendo's mobile apps. Gold Points - If we buy a game with Gold Points we get a discount we can use for buying more games it seems. (Not 100% understanding it). We will be able to buy games digitally from Nintendo's own site and it will automatically download.

Features that will out in the future: Managing Friend Relationships. Coordinating Cloud Data. Perks at retail stores. ... (To be determined I guess or too early to reveal) (Note: There are no further expiations of these so I don't know how they would work, but I can imagine a bit logically I suppose) Pre-registration for My Nintendo on the 17 February, but the real launch will still be in March.

Cloud is acceptable as he's a character from a well-known game (on-par with Ocarina of Time as far as fans are concerned) from a well-known series. Ice Climbers is an insignificant (& not fun) game that hardly anyone would know about if it wasn't for Melee. And even that wasn't enough to reboot the franchise. Sakauri must've known that too when he wasn't losing any sleep about not including them.

I can understand Ice Climbers having a fan base, but it's only based on how effective they were in Smash. If they played as badly as Pichu or Charizard, they would've been gone before Brawl.

@steve, nobody seemed to remember or ask for game and watch or pit, but they came. kid icarus eventually got rebooted onto a completely different genre of game too after a 20 dry state from a series that never was that well known to begin with. sakurai could easily plaster ice climbers on a new original gameplay idea like how he did with pit and kid icarus.

Anyway, I say why not include Ice Climbers back then as they were just expending the number of playable characters and even if it was a long time since they got a game back then, does it matter really? ;-).

Steve@ Hidalgo@ I agree with Hidalgo that Ice Climbers could easily get their own game if Nintendo prioritized it, regardless of Sakurai himself are going it or not :-). Like Hidalgo said Pit Icarus got a new game and Pit Icarus wasn't exactly well know before that, but got very loved from the completely new style game he got ;-).

Steve@ Hidalgo@ Game and Watch is a bit different as fair amount of Nintendo fans would know about Game and Watch by researching Nintendo's history, but I do think Game and Watch wasn't that well-known either :-). As far as ROB goes I can agree on that he was a bit more of stretch though, but I don't see why not ;-). I think we should just be happy with the amount of fighters we got ^^.

I really just hope that all the Smash Bros NX as a launch title rumours are true. Well, with E3, we'll see.

Steve@ I was just a bit surprised as I have never seen you as negative before ;^^. I don't really have any problem with your opinion, just that it would be nice if you included such as "in view/opinion" :-). It is fine though ;-).

Miitomo will also have a pre-registration on the same day as My Nintendo, which will be on the 17 February. (Might also include Nintendo Account as we will need a Nintendo Account in order to pre-register Miitomo). Miitomo will include a photo mode called Miifoto, which seem to let you share pictures with Miis without no regulation like a normal app.

Miitomo will kind of be a social media "play" app it seems to me, in the way that we provide the Mii/AI with our answers and then we see how your friends Miis react to your different answers. (Your friends should also be able to see your answers I would guess). An actual example copied: “What song has been stuck in your head lately?”, and “Do you believe in aliens?”, and such.

Like mentioned before here Miitomo will only be released in 16 couriers at first, but I do think most our you guys here except me and Zado should be able to get Miitomo in march :-). (Not 100% happy, but oh well). I think Miitomo looks promising and I am curious, but I am unsure for how long I will use Miitomo really as I am really "swichy" so to say ;^^. Still I wish Miitomo the best of luck ;-)

Yeah, I'll make sure to use the "in my opinion" words from now on. lol. I'm struggling to understand Miitomo personally. It sounds like a mix of that old Wii question/poll channel (can't remember the name) and some of the elements of Miiverse. But I guess the best way to find out is to try it when it's out.

Damn. Its weird to see Pokemon with so much high numbers. I'm not a big fan of Pokemon but each time I walk at walmart and go to the video game section, I always see kids asking for a new Pokemon game. :¬

Really? All I see kids asking for is the next Call of Duty game.

Kimishima has high goals for Nintendo, but I do believe that they can pull it off. Kimishima himself was a banker for a good chunk of his life, so I trust him.

AstralLink@ (Hi, long time no see ^^). Anyway, I can understand that the Pokémon games has a really high sales number as Pokémon has a lot of fans and appeal a lot to kids/kids at hearts people :-). I am personally a bit tired of the main game Pokémon series as I have played it for so many years ;^^, but I am going to get the Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon game in 2 weeks as I prefer them ;-).

Still I do notice most kids tending to go towards more violent games, which I think is a bit sad/too bad :-/. I mean not just because that kids are playing 18/M rated games, but just that they aren't playing other kinds of genres in some cases.

Jadon@ Well, I do think Nintendo has about at least 20-40/60 million fans that are eager to make a My Nintendo account, so at least Nintendo probably have a lot of fans that will register into My Nintendo immediately :-). I think we can trust Kimishima and I do think a lot of us fans will show our friends and family members in order to make a My Nintendo Account in terms of Miitomo ;-).

mr_jel@ Well... I guess we just have to see ;^^, but still I think Nintendo/Kimishima will be able to reach their goal of getting 100 million My Nintendo users :-). Hopefully it all goes well ^^.

@Jadon: The same thing can be said about Pokemon. lol. I know loads of people my age (in their 20s) that still like this series, including me.

Definitely looking forward to the MyNintendo accounts, just hope it has better rewards than Club Nintendo here in NA. Miitomo will be an instant success in Japan that being said who knows if it'll be near as successful in the west and whether Nintendo decides to release it or just hold off until the next app with a recognizable character. And amiibos are here to stay based on lifetime sales.

mr_jel@ I see ;-). Well I wouldn't call myself a Nintendo fanboy in a adjective sense nor a Nintendo fangirl, but a core Nintendo fan who enjoy playing Nintendo games :-). (Female/tomboy in real life though). Either way, lets just hope Nintendo really manages to make the most out of this year ;-).

Sean@ I can't say if the physical rewards will be better, but it seems like at least My Nintendo will be better in digital rewards/gifts :-). As for Miitomo I definitely agree that it will be a hit in Japan, but as for other places like Europe and America I am not so sure of ;^^. Still I do think Miitomo will likely be a bit popular for a while, if not becoming an app of our daily lives :-).

Am I the only person who would be quite happy with eShop credit or free download codes from myNintendo? From a financial point of view it makes more sense, not to say a few Amiibos or a case or you know a statue wouldn't go a-miss.

Yeah. As much as I enjoy pokemon, I can only play 1 game per generation otherwise I get bored. Especially this time as I spent almost 300 hours in Y completing the game and the entire Pokedex. lol

Star points thing we had wasn't great. I mainly used the points to buy credits for Wii Shop. Physical items were often cheap 'poundland' or so over priced with low stock numbers they were pointless...

So you didn't mean your compliment then? lol ;-) Yeah, I had a friend who was filling the dex at the same time, which made things a lot easier. Had to do some very risky trades as well to complete it though, like trading 2 shiny Pkmn online for an Arceus. I mainly just did it for bragging rights. :-D

In USA I dont think miitomo is really a good idea mainly because too many parents let their kids have mobile phones paired with miis in the app being total blabbermouths phone numbers, credit card or other dangerous info could wind up in the wrong hands.Nintendo had better have thought of some safety measures for this app before making it.
