    SF64 3D came out well before SSB4 released and sold decently (about a million copies). Considering Pokemon X/Y weren't even out when Sakurai started development on Greninja, I fail to see what point this post is trying to make.

    Here's why I think some Brawl veterans were cut. Ivysaur/Squirtle: Lack of time to alter them like Charizard. Lucas(came back as DLC): Mother 3 was never localized. Wolf: Only one Star Fox game (which is a remake) came out featuring him in his role as a villain and only as a villain.

    As for why Lucas was brought back instead of any of the others, I guess Lucas was the most requested Brawl veteran (besides Ice Climbers) at the time.

    Ivysaur/Squirtle were cut due to 3ds hardware limitations. Same with Ice Climbers. Wolf was cut as he was just a lazy shoe horn into Brawl due to spare development time, and brought nothing new to the game. Lucas was cut because he didn't offer anything new, but was added as he was the most popular cut Brawl veteran.
