Rolling in smash

Is it bad to roll a lot in smash how could i get punished or what are the disadvantages

    Ah, rolling. Very readable when spammed, and yes, it leaves you open for punishment with the cooldown time. If you rollspam, you WILL be punished. Use your rolls sparingly, especially if you're a slow-rolling Samus main.

    Yes, shielding is preferable. Granted, it has its disadvantage as well, as you could misread an attack and get grabbed (shields don't block grabs). BUT perfect shielding allows for easy counterattacks. The risk is lower, the reward is greater. Spotdodging is a viable option as well; just "roll" straight downward into the ground to dodge in place.

    Lol but the thing is i spam it because thats the only way i know how to dodge/block and get ready for an attack. is their a better way

    That's why you learn the SHFF, or Short Hop Fast-Fall. Tap jump very lightly to make a very low jump, and at the height of your jump tap the control stick down to drop back down quickly. Throw in a quick Forward or Neutral air attack when doing this to attack while advancing. It's hard to get the hang of, but an indispensable tech.
