Yooka Laylee seems exciting to me too. We'll see how well it is received and how good it ends up being, though!

  • I think it could do alright, there's not a saturated market for 3D platformers any more and it's the guys that made Banjo Kazooie/Tooie not Nuts n' Bolts. Aside from Tearaway can't really think of the last memorable 3D platformer I played so I'm intrigued to see more of it. Could be good. Kinda wish I'd backed the Kickstarter actually.

  • Boo, people on my friends list playing/posting on here about FE: Fates and they've still not even given a release date for it in Europe!

    Yeahs0
  • They haven't? I thought Fates released globally except in Japan. I can't imagine why it wouldn't release soon over there.

  • Nope, don't know whether it's down to the special edition or just localisation but nothing as yet. I'm not desperate to play it as I've got enough on the go right now but it'd be nice to know at least roughly when it'll arrive! Definitely prefer the simultaneous release approach.

    Yeahs0
  • Same here. Simultaneous releases only make sense, from an advertising standpoint they're probably cheaper as well. Nintendo only seems to make an effort to do so if the game has online, though. I imagine Fates took a while too translate with all the dialogue and stuff like that, so that might explain some of it.

  • That's a very good point actually, they could save a lot of money on marketing (at least in the west) by releasing simultaneously and having a standard tv/online ad for all English speaking territories. Part of it could also be adding region specific dialogue as well as the translation, wasn't there a game recently on 3DS that referenced a meme in the US version? Might've been Paper Jam Bros.

    Yeahs0
  • Yeah, my guess is region specific dialogue as well. Although both our countries speak English, no one can deny that there's a pretty big difference between speaking American English and British English, so they probably have to translate the supports.

  • I have noticed a few British-isms slipping into Nintendo games of late, TFH had a few and Square Enix seem to like putting them in too. If it means a delay though I'll take the US translation! Ah well, it'll release at some point. Finished Firewatch the other day from my backlog so that's one down...I mean the game is only a few hours long but still...

    Yeahs0
  • Firewatch... That's by the guy who made Braid, right?

    Yeahs0
    Played
  • No, the one you're thinking of is The Witness. Similar art style (they're both very pretty) but they have a different approach with The Witness being puzzle based and Firewatch more an interactive narrative with branching dialogue. The ending was a bit anticlimactic but overall thought it was great. Recommend it for when it's on sale.

    Yeahs0
  • Oh, I know what you're talking about now. I'm not sure how I confused the two.

  • I'm sure you're not the first dude! How are you doing with Dark Souls btw? Been meaning to ask, any further progress? @Rau speaking of which, I've captured some Bloodborne PvP footage for a video of a rather unusual build you might enjoy watching! Doing some prep for DS3, going to replay 2 again soon possibly with a fellow Miiverse-er.

    Yeahs0
  • Yep, I'm in The Depths. Literally and figuratively, haha. I've been playing it off and on, that's probably not the best way to play it, but I've still been playing Xenoblade and Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones a bunch.

  • Oh, that place can be rough! That must mean you've beat the Capra Demon then? I'm the tightest boss arena ever! How are you finding it then, still a bit of an uphill struggle or is it starting to click a little more now?

    Yeahs0
  • I think I'm in the process of it clicking. I'm not there yet, but I'm starting to grasp it.

    Yeahs0

  • Good stuff. Funnily enough there's been evidence to suggest that people who've never played many games before get on with it easier as you just learn it and take it as it is whereas people with a history of gaming often struggle as you try and play it like other third person action games. When it clicks though it's all second nature and you'll be dodge rolling and using invincibility frames!

    Yeahs0
  • That makes sense. I've often found myself trying to play Zelda or Elder Scrolls or Monster Hunter when I'm actually playing DS. :P

  • I was definitely like that with MH4U, took me a long while to adjust to how that game controls! Just kept thinking "this doesn't feel right, surely it'd make sense if this did this" haha Well, this chat is full. Will start a new one soon.

  • New chat post is now going up.
