Has anyone else noticed that Thomas the Tank Engine is kinda dark?

I know it sounds stupid but just hear me out. These living machine's whole purpose in in life is to be useful right? But if they slack off or cause enough trouble they will be "scraped".... which means death for them. I mean, it's not a life "I" would want to live honestly

  • You're not the only one who has vaugely stupid thoughts like this. It took me a while to realize how weird it is. Especially when I learned the scrapyard or whatever is where trains go to be "killed". Appearently in one of the movies, there was one train who was "killed" this way because "he wasn't a very useful engine". It sounds a little stupid, but rather freaky as well.

Thomas was different tho, that show was for 0-5 year olds, and IT had a dark twist. I seems bizarre to even consider that concept. I can't think of any other baby show that has this 0_0

  • oh yeah,I find the 80s & 90s shows very dark to be a kids show like Ren & Stimpy.as for games, there's Mario bros 3 when Mario could get eaten ALIVE & has a smile on his face when he dies.in 64 he could drown.some old Mario games are kinda darker than some others.

  • but I think it would be Cat & Dog to be one the darkest kid shows to me.

  • @Eddie All those shows you mentioned were targeted toward a much older demographic, maybe 7-11, they had at least SOME excuse, Thomas was for VERY young boys

  • @EDDIE oh really CatDog ? I never really considered or thought of that show as being dark though, to me . Weird , yes sontimes disturbing, yes but not dark :] . Is there a certain scene that was dark to you ? When I think of dark shows Courage the Cowardly Dog, Invader Zim and Ahhhh Monsters pop in my head >.<" . Like you could look up top 10 scary scenes or episodes on Youtube and they have it ;3
