Despite growing up in the Gamecube era, I never played Melee.

In fact, I never knew about Smash Bros. until Brawl, an underrated game in my opinion. Sometimes, I wonder why I never played Melee, or even come close to it. Was it the ESRB rating? Nah, that can't be it.

  • If there's one thing I've learned about Smash Bros and the ESRB rating system, its that they're incorrect, unless its the N64. I am also like what you mentioned to an extent.

  • Never played Melee? Dang, you missed out. If there was a Melee HD that had an online mode I'd honetly continue to play it as much as SSB4 if not more. I still play Melee from time to time, but unfortunately my friends are casuals and don't appreciate the technical aspects of Melee and PM. Due to this, I'm limited to facing CPUs now.

  • Meh, you shouldn't hold yourself against it. I grew up with a 64, but I don't own a physical copy of the game, I just played when my friend came over. Recently I felt like replaying it, so I asked that friend to bring it over. But after all the fondness I have for Smash 4, it felt more like a relic than an experience...

  • I'd highly recommend tracking down a copy and trying it out, but only if you're willing to put forth the time necessary to improve and learn its mechanics. Some of the unlockable characters/stages take an exuberant amount of time to get (Mewtwo/F.Destination in particular) so keep that in mind.

  • If you somehow manage to get Melee, then have fun but if you do get your hands on Melee... just don't become a Melee Elitist -_-

  • My brother showed me all of the SSB games that came out while I showed him the new one. Even if he doesn't like Nintendo anymore which is kinda sad.
