What to do when your brother has ADHD...

My brother has ADHD, which would be fine, but he also has OCD, which elevates it, and he can be SO rude and annoying. It's just... how do I deal with it?

  • For one, this doesn't fit on Miiverse. But I have a friend who is just like that, even though he doesn't have ADHD or OCD. You just need to find ways to cope with it. Nothing you can really do but find something you both enjoy to cope with it, and just let it solve itself.

  • 1] if he's rude to u, dont be rude back, because it could just make him more mad. 2] No matter what, be nice to him, even if he's rude to u.

  • … This reminds me of the marketing campaign when this game was released: "Got a beef? Settle it in Smash!" The two of you could bond by playing the game together, one-on-one or in teams. Whoever wins a match can decide what activity to do next, or something. Make it a game to get your brother to do fun things with you or the rest of the family.

  • Pretend like you just remembered something or got a text from someone and leave. Or say you have some important work to do and you need it to be quiet and alone.

  • I have ADHD, yet I tend to be a bit more calm while playing Smash (unless I keep getting beat, then I use my Amiibos), but I can't exactly help with OCD. My sister tends to be crazy in Smash, though, so I'd recommend trying to deal with it.

  • Personally, I have autism, not ADHD, but I have friends with it. The best thing to do is to stay calm and help him out with his struggles. With my autism, I gained a lot of abilities, but I also come with many faults, such as a bit of anger problems... The best thing for me is to try to relax or do something productive pr with my family, but everyone is diffrent.

  • If you want to deal with his ADHD, playing video games and beating him don't mix well. Give him a few wins discretely, it sounds mean and patronizing, but I sometimes throw the match for my siblings and they get hyped. Still, good luck.

  • KoniaPuppy: Kinda hard to deal with it. You really think I haven't tried? Sibling rivalry is a common thing, but it gets magnified a thousand times. It takes two to tango, my peeps. Mew2: Yes, I suppose everyone is different. I have a friend with it, but it's different when they're your age. Leroy: Embrace it. No more posts for the night!

  • I have ADD, OCD, and Asperger's Syndrome! OCD is without question the worst of the three! The simplest way to describe OCD in my experience, is like having persistent, nagging, superstitious thoughts! To give you an idea, imagine that old superstition about how stepping on cracks will break your mother's back! It's inherently irrational, but you feel compelled to complete a ritual all the same!

Buzzy let me tell ya, I have ADHD and so did my half brother and I can tell you for a fact the younger the harder it is to handle. But in time he will mature and will show less of his disorder. To cope with it during the prime of ADHD is difficult. I would know after having a watergun being tossed at your forehead... and that happened 14 years ago.

Best way to cope is to find your cope and let him cope his way. If things truly escalate then I would consult with your parents. And by escalate I typically mean physical harm, but I suppose running around screaming in your room could count.
