What if Smash is meant to CELEBRATE franchises, not advertise them?

For example, Sakurai put in Shulk to celebrate Xenoblade having a remake for 3DS. Sakurai never said Smash was meant for advertising, but people can have that opinion if they want. This is just mine.

    Celebrating them IS what it is for the most part, but advertisement is just something that naturally comes along with a game like this. It's a beneficial side-effect. So yeah, ultimately Smash is both.

    Well, Corrin was included because Nintendo wanted a character from an upcoming game, and FE: Fates fit within the time-frame they had in mind. If that's not advertisement, I don't know what is. Not that I'm complaining, however, I love Fire Emblem, and Corrin is a neat character.

    You're splitting hairs here. You can go over 'what if' situations for a really long time, but it wont'change anything. Celebrating and advertising are virtually interchangeable here.
