What if all Nintendo franchises had equal representation?
4 fighters, 2 stages, 5 items, 30 trophies and one assist trophy character per Nintendo franchise. How does that sound?

Sad it can't happen. Mario,Pokemon, and Zelda are too overrated when they take No intelligence and kill All other Nintendo ip's Exept the Amazing Fire Emblem games, and Maybe Kirby.

Kastuo I must reply More from obscure Nintendo games is actually helpful as it gives franchises the power to be remembered, Hyped up a bit, and Maybe get a sequel. Star Fox 0 proves this. What you call obscure may not be true. Fire Emblem is a very prevalent Nintendo franchise in Japan, add the fact Nintendo is from Japan (obviously) and the financial success of Fates

@Josh, not all franchises were made equal. If Sakurai made each franchise equal, then he'd have to come up with new characters that don't have any potential at all. In fact, these characters were picked and picked only to represent each franchise. If there were 4 fighters per franchise, then the representation power isnt that grand since it is divided into these characters.

also, there are franchises that showcase only one character (G&W, R.O.B, Duck Hunt). How would you translate that and divide it into 3 more characters?

in Japan With over 900,000 copies sold (Birthright selling about 600,000 and Conquest Selling about 500,000 Copies. I forgot about Revelations sales), it was inevitable that Corrin/Kamui would make it into smash, especially with the time gap between Fates' release and Kamui's date of purchase in Smash was very close, by 2 weeks 2 days. That alone is proof of your statement being biased.

I will say that Mario took Nintendo to new heights, so there was no way they weren't going to have Mario in there. Not every Mario franchise has more than one character. Popularity of the series as well as characters were involved. I have never played Bayoneta, but I playing her on Smash brothers is pretty awesome. I may not like all the characters, but they make the game fun to play.

I've got a better idea: Representation based on franchise success. In other words, FE needs some cuts (Roy & Lucina), Mario is OK on reps (just remove his clone), LoZ needs 1 or 2 more reps (Ghirahim) and Ganondorf needs a new moveset, DK needs about 1 more rep, Starfox & Kirby need 1 more rep, and PKMN just needs 1 rep per generation.

Not Roy. His Blade properties, ↑B,←/→B,Jab, Up Smash, falling speed, and Frame rate differences on Certain Moves are all different than Marth. Outside of Not as powerful as Marth or Roy Sweetspotted, Blade Length, Same strength through each part of the blade, And Hurt/Hit boxes are the only differences for Lucina, and Not good ones mostly.

Dr. Mario. I could agree with. But I think everything else is just fine. They can't add any more characters to this one. At some point, they may find a way to get at least one character from all, but they still are going to put the popular characters in. If you look, they have most of the characters from the past generations of Smash in this one game. I just enjoy playing the game.

R: Roy is just Fire Marth. All they did was rip Marth's moves, altered the animations a bit to make them look a little different, and changed his sweetspot location. Just about everything of his is stolen from Marth. He's just a Marth clone with little relevance to the FE series (only had 1 unimportant game).

Little difference. Up Smash Being multi-hit, Faster falling speed,Up b Being best Horizontally. Those alone really separate Roy's and Marths Playstyle even though Roy's a semi-clone. If i didn't buy One of the bundles I wouldn't have blonde Ness, or Pink Lucario

If franchise relevance really mattered, we'd have more DK characters and Kirby characters. So it doesn't matter. Anyway this is a fighing game and Sakurai picked all the characters because he thought they'd be good fighters.

Who told you people franchise relevance mattered? Sakurai didn't!

Mario is the reason why DK is here, same with Yoshi and Wario, they all have their own thing now but it's thanks to the Mario games and Kirby doesn't really have that many important characters besides the ones we already have, there's Bandana dee i guess but it wouldn't be different from adding Koopa the quick or Goombella from Mario games. Just a random enemy with more personality than the others

He did say that it didn't matter either that's just your opinion :P but U R still missing the most important thing: The game is already here! Complaining about too many Mario and Pokemon characters won't change anything. Sakurai does this things for a reason and a miiverse post won't change anything at all. If U don't get it by now then i'm sorry. I had enough of this conversation have a good day
