What's up with Cloud's outfits?

There's something that just strikes me odd about the way Cloud's alts are ordered. Why are his Classic/Advent outfits ordered like Male/Female characters instead of like Wario's or Bayonetta's? Is there something we should know? ... I'm honestly not too much of a Final Fantasy player, so please don't flame.

  • My biggest problem with Cloud's alts is that they're all too dark and similar to each other.

  • I was at first confused about how Bayo's outfits are sorted compared to Cloud, but I completely forgot about Wario! (the same applies to Lil'Mac btw) Maybe it's because his AC outfit doesn't originate from a video game.

  • Everything about Cloud is weird. His stage has like 2 songs, his alt. costumes are all just "dark, but with a [blank] colored tint."

  • The colors are pretty dull and similar... Honestly keeping track of Cloud's default pallet is like trying to remember Ganondorf's, especially on the 3DS. It's why I rarely use pallets 3-7 on Cloud on 3DS.

  • Samus and Bayonetta have the same problem btw, though it's not as bad with the former. Personally I get the impression that Cloud's AC variants are harder to tell apart, as somehow three of them are apparently black.

  • Two of them have ribbons instead of sleeves, but you can't tell which ones on the 3DS.

  • But even with the uncovered arm, two of them look rather black-ish (one of the 4 is green-ish), so at least on the character selection they're hard to tell apart.
