So... About Corrin and Robin...

Why is it whenever people refer to Corrin or Robin they use their female forms? Seriously? They are originally guys. Or people really that stupid and disgusting to forget that they are dudes? Whenever I see people all like "Coren waifu" I will IMMDIATLEY hate them. Can we all just refer to them as guys? Not all the time but SERIOUSLY. STOP being so tenacious!

  • Well, technically, they can be either. In the games that Robin comes from (Awakenimg), you could pick what gender you want him/her to be. I believe the same is true for Corrin. So, it really isn't incorrect to refer to them in a feminine manner.

  • If they want to use the female counterpart of the character thats their choice. That's why the characters were made like that. In the Fire Emblem game couldn't Robin be a female from the avatar creation? There is no original gender for those two they can be either or.

  • If I had to say which one would be which, i'd say that Robin was meant to be a guy, and Corrin a girl. It seems like i'd suit their character situations. Not sure about Corrin though. Haven't played the game yet.

  • I know the reveal trailers for Smash primarily used the male voice actors, but the Fire Emblem games don't canonically specify if any one gender is more true than the other for the Avatars. The devs left that option up to the players. But that said, yeah, I'm also not the biggest fan of people getting overly and publicly aroused by the gender of a fictitious video game character.

  • And cue the trolls spamming 'Corrin waifu' just to tick you off... Speaking of the characters' genders, I personally think that Corrin should have been initially introduced as female, & the amiibo should be female, so that both sides are represented. Robin's amiibo is male, & thus the in-game ♀ option seems "extra". It's like they prioritized the ♂ counterparts to appeal primarily to male gamers.

  • I've never played Awakening, but a friend told me about it. Canonically Robin makes more sense plot-wise to be a woman because (if the player chooses) Robin can be Lucina's mother which has some actual bearing on the story. Male Robin can never be related to Lucina, as Chrom is always her father. While either gender works, I usually refer to the female version since she can be related to Lucina.

  • While I actually play both of them with their female alts (due to colors - I like Redhead Robin and Orange Corrin), when I speak of either of them in terms of gameplay and such, I use the gender-neutral "They".

  • They're not "originally dudes". They are whichever gender you choose and neither one is the "official" one. And Silvereye, male Robin CAN be related to Lucina; He can be her husband.

  • For Robin I'm absolutely sure he was intended for being a man. Spoiler alert, he is a part of Grima and the dragon doesnt make a female impression on me. Also, in one dlc mission, Robins male kid refers Grima as male. Later on he corrects himself when the player uses a female Robin, which pretty much told me everything how the developers see him.

  • For Corrin dunno, since the game still need time for coming to europe -.- but judging the artworks of the two fates cover, I guess male Corrin is intended for the Hoshido and female Corrin for Nohr side. For Robin I like way more the male one, the female version sounds annoying. Both Corrins got terrible facial expressions, but the female is somehow cute (no waifu) and got interesting colours

  • So many comments. 0-0 Although it is never specified, they can be female. You guys made me realize that. Now that I DO think about it, Robin does seem really fitting as a guy, and Corrin a girl. Something always seemed off about female Robin. :/ And Corrin as a girl does make the outfit look better considering its very slender for a guy. And the fact with no shoes. Well, now I think Im set.

  • I had said Male Robin to be preferred because of Chrom and his relationship in game. It seemed more like comrades in arms, than growing relationship. It was also implied that Sumia was the one for Chrom than anybody else. I'm pretty sure it's her in the opening holding Lucina as a baby... And yes, female Corrin definitely looks the most attractive in that armor.
