Smash & the 3DS control stick

So the frequent flicking of the control stick (joystick) for smash attacks and sprinting has caused the rubber "grip" peice on it to loosen and come off. (I put it back, but I'll probably have to carefully secure it with crazy glue). Has this happened to anyone else yet?

  • This has happened to a load of people about a month after the game's release. Mine didn't come off, but it caused major calibration problems. Playing ACNL was near impossible. Smash really isn't suited to handheld play.

  • If your gnna play smash 3ds, i recommend you to play on the "new" 3ds xl model. The c-stick can be used to use smash, making it easier on the circlepad. Just dont play on the regular model.I only play on the new model too.

  • Unfortunately, I only own the older 3ds model. I'll just have to deal with the joystick's slipping grip and Smash's super-draing of my battery for now. T_T

  • I own the older 3DS model! Everything is basically in full working order after 5 years!

  • Lucky! I've had to replace both shoulder buttons! (i's cheap if you can do it yourself, but the screws are evil. I stripped two of them and had to get my uncle to drill through them for me.) I've had my 3DS for about 5 years too. I can make do with the control stick as it is, but it can affect gameplay slightly. I could take the rubber grip off, but then it doesn't feel right.

  • Mainly because I don't play Smash super intense like!

  • lol. I never really considered myself an intense gamer either when it came to Smash (I'm good, but not better than most I've fought online). But smash attacks tend to bring the pain, so I use them more (as i did in all the other smash bros games). Use 'em enough and the glue wears out i guess.

  • The only Smash attack I have trouble with is Side Smash sometimes!

  • Yes. There was actually an article about a year ago talking about people breaking their circle pads playing Smash (because the circle pad is the worst control stick ever invented).

  • I tend to use pit & dark pit, so i kinda need to use the side smash to launch my opponents more easily. also, I flick the stick to dodge and run a lot. That's the culprit.

  • And I wouldnt call the stick broken. It's an easy fix if i glue it right, and I never had a problem with it before. It's still more comfortable than the joystick on a PSP.

  • Yeah, on the older 3ds models, the shoulder triggers seem to wear out faster than expected.

  • What is up with you guys! I've had the first 3DS for 2 yrs, and i game really hard, and my control stick never, ever broke. Now this is in Sm4sh. Also my shoulder buttons never broke. I dont know how you guys treat your 3DS to break the joystick, but that's crazy.

And the "New" Nintendo 3DS, the C-Stick stinks af. I tried my friends and nothing worked out right. So dont you dis the older 3DS model.
