Pichu removed from smash?

Why is it that Pichu now not in smash? I enjoyed seeing people like M2K 4 stock players with the cute little clone!

    I heard rumours that the Pikachu in Super Smash Bros 4 is the Pichu from the Previous Smash games the only difference is that it evolved.

    @William: There are actually two things that could prove that rumor to be true: 1. One of Pikachu's alternate costumes is Pichu's blue goggles. 2. Pikachu's Final Smash (Volt Tackle) can only be learned by Pichu. (I looked it up in the Pokedex 3D Pro)

    pichu was cut for a variety of reasons. he was a low priority character, he was the most unpopular character in melee, he was designed specificly to be a joke character, he did not have many ways to separate himself from pikachu, he of all the characters had a very negative stigma attached to him.

    Pichu was an intentionally horrible clone character. That's why he's only in Melee. At least Jigglypuff evolved from being a joke character into a viable fighter.
