Wii U facing supply issues in Japan

While this hasn't officially been acknowledged by Nintendo themselves , the console has completely sold out at one chain(Yodobashi) and isn't available online at Amazon Japan or Tsutaya. Japanese blog 'Gamerlife' theorises that production hasn't kept pace with demand due to unexpectedly good sales during Christmas 2015. ( Source ) Gamerlife blog JP

  • The Wii U has gotten alot of good games last year the Wii U had full potential of selling well if those games was released with the Wii U at launch maybe Nintendo can still make money out of the Wii U and save the NX to 2017.

  • To think that its taken 3 years for the Wii U to be sold out in Japan compared to the 3 weeks it took the Wii back in 2006.

  • Supply issues must mean a lot of sales for Wii U! GO TEAM, GO TEAM, GO TEAM.

  • Supply issue while bad also shows Wii U is in demand which is good. I think what attributed to the Wii selling well early on was the short supply. With it selling out so quickly, consumers took notice of it as an in-demnd product.

  • I think this shows promise for NX success, unless Nintendo uses up most if not all their good ideas for a while before releasing it, which i see as unlikely, mostly because i think Zelda U will be sold on NX.

  • Must be phasing it out for NX
