WITCH TIME IS SO BROKEN IT'S LIKE...

Bayonetta is constantly picking up the timer item no matter if items are on or off.

  • And this is part of why I am loving Link right now. The combination of projectiles and a pretty solid grab, along with powerful attacks to punish with give Link a pretty good time getting around Witch Time. Doesn't take aways that Witch Time is ridiculously spammable, though, and Bayonetta is easily the most flowcharty character in the game.

  • Witch time is basically a counter. It lasts longer the higher your percent is, which is unique. The more you use it, the weaker it becomes. It's up to you to attack while she's vulnerable to prevent being countered.

  • "It lasts longer the higher your percent is, which is unique." which makes it more ridiculous. If she catches you with witch time while your damage is very high it's pretty much guaranteed a easy K.O for her 90% of the time which is BS to me.

  • It's honestly kinda stupid. I mean, even at low percentage, it already gives Bayonetta enough time to fully charge a Smash attack if she doesn't spam it (since the effect time decreases with repeated use). And on that note, the punishment on effect time for spamming it is far too small. The only ways to escape Witch Time are to hit Bayo (multi-hit move) or directly clank with her follow-up.

  • I've actually had Link's Spin Attack do both. Aerial Spin Attack can hit Bayonetta quickly enough early on in the attack to punish Witch Time on hit, and grounded Spin Attack is often strong enough to clank with her charged F-Smash (especially if staling favours you).

  • It can be annoying. But yeah, just do more projectiles/grabs. Or muoti hit moves. Bayos tend to use it more often when you're around 80-100%. If they land it, you're going to eat a fully charged smash and probably die. And her Forward Smash seems to really be counterable by anything on the starting hitbox. I literally clinked with it using Yoshi's... jab.

  • That's why I like characters that have multi-hit moves. It's a godsend! Even though she can slow you down, that move that you've used is still active and has a chance to stop both the effects of Witch Time and hit her. It kills two birds with one stone. That's how I defeat those Bayonetta players that rely on that Witch Time a little too much. And even if she does it a little late and dodge the...

  • ...attack, she will still accumulate damage regardless. The same goes to spamming her Up+B move a lot. Press that guard button at that moment before another one comes up. That way, you can create pressure on those players. Keep up what we say on your post and you'll win some matches against Bayonetta in no time!

  • The only one that can counter a Witch Time spammer... ...is a PK Fire (Ness) spammer. Not that I'VE resorted to such vile tactics, of course.

  • PK Fire is clever. Beats out both Witch Time and Side-B (of which I forgot the name) due to how low above the ground it travles, and then traps them. I don't like Ness very much, but I still might try that...
