I love this game, its the most original idea Nintendo has had since Mario Bros. Its online is complete GARBAGE though and it really hurts such a great title.

    14 connection errors in one night with great internet. Yeah, no excuse other than the game server is jank.

    Nintendo uses peer to peer connection for their matchmaking, so the game's stability is just based on everyone's connection to everyone else's. Thus, Nintendo doesn't have to maintain dedicated servers so we don't have to pay a monthly subscription or see ads, but that unfortunately also means one person with a poor connection has more of an effect on the game - especially when they're the host.

    What I wish they did better with online, though, is regional matchmaking and better level based matchmaking (in Splatfests/turf war). I also wish that they didn't penalize those peer to peer connectivity issues like they currently do (an issue I had with Mariokart 8 online, too).

    Thanks for the info Yop. I couldn't agree with you more about having a regional setting, might cut down on the lag a bit if there was and maybe tone down the connection errors. I wish you didn't get penalized for disconnects too. I really like this game and shouldn't be so harsh on it, I'm thrilled to see Nin put out a great shooter. The whole idea of this game is quite awesome.

    Totally! Splatoon has a lot of novel ideas, and way more enjoyable than I was expecting it to be when it was first announced. Hopefully it'll see a sequel in the next console!
