Perfect Pivots, and Pivot grabs!

I have been trying to successfully perform prefect pivots and pivot grabs for a few days now, and I'm only able to perform perfect pivots 1-3 times out of ten! I feel that pivot grabs are a bit easier to perform successfully! Do many people on For Glory use these techniques! I'm feeling discouraged about trying to learn them even with advice from My Smash Corner!

  • @mthcg. How long did take you to master perfect pivots? I can't practice this more than 45 minutes a day without becoming bored or irritated!

  • I should also mention that I'm using the Gamecube Controller! Anything else doesn't feel right to me!

  • funny thing is i didn't even know about pivot grabs or what they were until i read your post a few days go about them so thanks. it took me two tries and now i can pivot grab with marth every time. they key is to run forward grab and instantly flick the stick in the other direction.

  • think of it as turning around except when you do it you slide as seen with captain falcon

  • I know that, but I can't seem to do it properly! Maybe it's easier to do with the Gamepad! I don't know, maybe my timing isn't quick enough, or I hold the control stick to the right for too long!

  • I've actually watched a video on how to do a perfect pivot on Smash Corner, but I want to be able to perform it successfully more often!

  • yea the gc controller isn't the best for pivot grabbing its just that the gc controller is older and dated and if you dash dance and L cancel or do other fast tactics you wear down the buttons and sticks gc controllers after a while dont have the wavedash capabilities they used to thats why tournament players have 5 or 6 of them so they aren't disadvantaged by their controller

  • I do have a Wii U Pro controller, but I haven't really used it due to personal preferrence. Maybe the Control on it will offer less resistance like the gamepad!

  • I mean control stick! Do you find it to be more responsive on the gamepad!

  • definitely the controller is newer and since wavedashing doesn't exist in smash 4 there is less need of me to wiggle the stick. as well as the game itself having quicker reaction time than brawl ad melee. I have been using the same gc controller since 2003 i can guarantee you that pivot grabbing wouldn't work if i plugged it in basically the gc controller is made for brawl and melee not Wii U

  • not saying that it wouldn't work on brawl or melee the gc controller is perfect for those two

  • Yeah, maybe the control stick on the gamecube controller, and the smash bros gamecube controller doesn't snap back into the neutral position quickly enough!

  • also i dont snap it back into neutral i hold it

  • Maybe, that's what I've been doing wrong!? I was under the impression that you just let the control stick move back into the neutral position by itself!

  • yeah i just tried snapping it. It is alot hard than holding
