    But....Steve is not owned by Nintendo(Wii U Edition does not count). Same thing why Freddy Fazbear can't be in Smash.

    Wii u edition of minecraft DOES count but i mean that right now maybe smash 5 it's like you are saying cloud can't be in smash because he isn't owned by nintendo but he did appear in smash

    In Cloud's case, his home series has history with Nintendo in the past and with FF7, that game was supposed to be on the SNES originally and then the N64 before it got moved to Playstation. Since he's arguably the most popular FF character of all time, that's why he is in Smash above others. Steve, however, doesn't have Nintendo history aside from Minecraft on Wii U, which was a few months ago.
