    because they had to scrap pokemon trainer,and charizard was the most popular.that and they needed a pokemon to represent gen 6.

    Greninja being added didn't effect Squirtle. Originally, GameFreak (whose in charge of all original Pokemon reps in Smash) gave Sakurai the choice to add 1 of any 6th gen starter in Smash, and Sakurai chose Greninja since he thought that was the best of the 3

    The others were likely cut due to Pokemon trainer. They could have just given them separate slots like Charizard but they weren't as popular as he was anyway. Just another main loss
