Btw, just because something's in the don't list, doesn't mean you can't do it at all. These are only guidelines. I've actually seen some ocs with certain don'ts that turn out amazing. Oh... And with the whole using bases thing... You should ask for permission and credit. After a while, you should stop using bases and really try on your own though. That is, if you're the type who uses bases...

Now that that's over with, time to create your base! ... Or use one done by someone else. Since wolves are very over used as ocs, I've decided to create one as an example to show it can still be original.

Now, with a finished base, it's experiment time! If you are at a lack of inspiration, try looking to other artist or even nature if you want. Try random stuff out like giving it a shorter tail or some kind of other interesting detail.

Now I've added some robot parts and might add some scars on them later. Just DON'T put a scar on their eye... It's been done a million times. OH- but what's this? You're unhappy with the design and feel it's unoriginal? LET'S TRASH THIS THING.

What? Didn't expect me to trash it? WELL, I actually did it on purpose to get a point across- it's not gonna be perfect the first time. (btw, that design wasn't original, I've seen it done before so credit to the people who have done it before.)

Alright, since I REALLY don't feel like making an entirely new base, I'll use one I made recently. (I know, I've been using this base a lot but I like it.)

Now, choose a color palette and design away! Do whatever you feel like doing, and don't let anything stop you! Next, we'll move on to backstory/personality do and don'ts.

What I mean by don't include shy personality is that I see it in almost every mary sue ish oc. Don't know what a Mary Sue is? It's a character who has no flaws and is supposedly "perfect". Mary sue characters are not limited to just the way they act and their apparent life with no problems ever, they often all look like each other too. To see mary sue designs go back to the design don'ts.

Wow now I feel like doing an amnesia story done right... Yep totally doing it. My brain is forming ideas... I may not be seen 'round here for a while...

Ok, now let's actually create a personality and backstory for the character I created. They may wear a business suit, but they actually act very childish and rude. The only reason they're wearing one is because they went to a meeting and now the suit is stuck because it was a size to small. They love to party, and often are covered in food stains.

Well, that's it. I hope I learned you how 2 makes a decent oc. Btw, the oc I made in this tutorial is up for adoption, so if you want them tell me and I'll yeah your comment asking for them if you get them. I hope I don't have to do another tutorial any time soon.... Maybe next time I'll MAKE Paint do it. >:3

@Ziggy It's your oc now, so you can do whatever you want with it. You can even change the design and backstory if you want.
