Geno was concidered for Smash + Sakurai on Mewtwo, Roy, and Lucas.

Major news coming from Daddy Sakurai about 4 major things. Geno was concidered to be in Smash 4 AND Brawl. For Smash 4, Geno was the highest requested character from the Mario series, but Square Enix and Sakurai decided to give the light for Cloud Strife! (More news bellow)

    Sakurai also has confirmed that Mewtwo, Roy, and Lucas (before the Smash Ballot) were the top 3 most requested characters. If you thought Bayonetta had to be censored, Mewtwo did as well!! His Final Smash had to be toned down because it scared the rating system employees into believing Mewtwo was killing them from the inside, so the development team had to tone down his Final Smash.

    Sakurai then talks a bit into Lucas, not really stating much except that he intended for Lucas to be different from Ness. Roy however brought some major shock. According to Sakurai, MARTH WAS STRONGER IN MELEE than Roy!! Sakurai states that he wanted Roy to be stronger and quicker on his feet than he was in Melee. Also, Sakurai said that the only Fire Emblem related thing on Roy is his Final Smash

    Another thing, Mewtwo was planed to be in Smash 4's main roster, but time constrant made him into a DLC character, and the team decided that Mewtwo would be the first DLC to come out.

    Geno was gonna be in brawl Sakurai told Square Enix they said they don't want Geno in Super Smash Bros Brawl unless Nintendo gives Square Enix a huge amount of money so Sakurai declined because he didn't want to give Square Enix the money so the deal was off.
