Ever since SEGA became a third party company, the Sonic franchise has been seen with mixed reviews from the fans. Some say new Sonic games are good, others say they're bad. I'm with that last bunch. They're are now more bad Sonic games than good ones. And Sonic is SEGA's mascot for crying out loud! This is how SEGA treats their own character? That's like saying you disrespect your own child.

They tried new things that turned out horribly. The only Modern Sonic game that every fan thinks is good is Sonic Generations (the console version). Back when SEGA was competing with Nintendo, Sonic was always said to be good, and SEGA deserved to keep him. But now that there is hardly any good Sonic games, I don't see a reason for SEGA to keep Sonic. I'm not saying Sonic should be forgotten

about. But what I am saying is that if SEGA doesn't learn from their mistakes, they should let another company keep the rights to Sonic. And that company is non other than (prepare to be shocked) Nintendo.

I know what you're thinking: "Nintendo having the rights to Sonic? Have you gone mad, Owen? Nintendo was SEGA's main rival in the 90's. You seriously think SEGA will let Nintendo have Sonic?" Let me explain. Nintendo is known for making great franchises to this day. Examples: Mario, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Kirby, the list goes on. And they have made fast paste games. Like Melee and F-ZERO.

And speaking of Melee, when Smash 4 was announced, lots of fans wanted either Tails or Knuckles in the game if Sonic were in. They got in, but not the way fans wanted. Having Nintendo buy the rights to Sonic would benefit the franchise in three ways: 1. Lots of fans would be hyped because Nintendo knows a thing or two about fast paste games. And since Sonic is about speed, it makes sense.

2. Only the main character of a third party game (as long as they originated from a video game and have been on a Nintendo console) can be a third party fighter. So Nintendo buying the Sonic franchise = high chances of Tails or Knuckles (or both) getting in smash You know you'd be hype about that. 3. The Sonic franchise would obviously be in good hands because of Nintendo making great games.

I think you mean "pace" not "paste". If they can combine the platforming of Mario, the speed of F-ZERO, the exploration of Metroid and the charming dialogue of Earthbound/Mother, then Sonic is set for years to come. Then again, SEGA would be losing ALOT on their end. Money, their own mascot, popularity, fans and most importantly, trust. Do you want to know why SEGA has fans? Trust.

But what I just said is only a hope. The chances of Nintendo buying Sonic and SEGA learning from their mistakes are a billion to one. It's still a chance, but they are very low.

@Duf Yep. Typos. :P Also, Capcom has been treating Mega Man like he doesn't mean anything with the lack of new games (not counting Mega Man: Legacy Collection) and they're still making money. So I think SEGA would be okay. I jinxed it, didn't I?

They Trust SEGA enough to make enjoyable games. If SEGA loses Sonic they lose trust, which equals bad luck for fans of Sonic and SEGA. It's honestly a tough decision.
