    There are a lot of players who simply don't like ranked battles and just wanna play turf war. Simple as that lol

    People who don't generally prefer online shooters can tend to find the idea of ranked play intimidating (they'll be new, it's more competitive, more aggressive, higher chance of being punished by teammates for bad performance), so they get their levels through turf war. It's amazing how removing voice chat makes it all no big deal, though, really. x)

    Yo it's not just about wanting to test out your skill level either. It's the entire idea that Turf Wars are generally more relaxed than Ranked Battles. Ranked restricts you to playing only one specific way, since the results of the battle can have consequences. Turf Wars don't have those consequences, so there's more wiggle room to play the way you want to, or even start a squid party if you wish.
