    He's 13, so technically he wouldn't be considered a little boy. Besides, Ness has been going on adventures before any of the 10 year old Pokemon trainers (i.e Ash, Red) have gone on theirs.

    Also, Ash is on his way to be a pokemon master (even though he never talks about it these days, and we still don't know what that is). The trainers in the game, capable of being the best, are probably pokemon masters. They never age either, but also don't need sleep, food, bathroom, and apparently get away clean, though they never shower.

    Perhaps that is the sign of a pokemon master? To need nothing, just live and battle. If so, then Ash is in a metamorphosis, on his journey to be a pokemon master.
