    That's because the goal isn't Rout Enemy. You need to have your MU escape by moving them to a certain tile or row of tiles. Many Fire Emblem games have featured a variety of different chapter objectives, but Awakening only really had Rout Enemy with a few Defeat Boss chapters, so if it's the only other Fire Emblem game you've played, it's understandable to be taken off-guard a bit.

    Ahhh, sorry, I misunderstood. Yeah, there are some chapters where killing the boss is optional, but serves as an alternate way to clear the chapter. I guess this isn't one of those chapters, though. Oh well.
