Wii U Lens Cleaning Kit

Has anyone had to use a wii u laser lens cleaning kit on their wii u yet because of disc reading issues? A friend of mine had a problem and bought the kit. It worked for a bit like it should then started acting up again. He had it proffesionally looked at and the lens was extremely soiled and dirty. It turned out that the enviroment it was in was te cause. It runs like new
