    At least you aren't spending thousands of gold for the forging like in previous FE games.

    Assuming you buy and forge them with no sales an Iron Katana +1 costs 2000 G and 1 pearl, +2 costs 4000 G and 4 pearls, +3 costs 8000 G and 11 pearls, +4 costs 16000 G and 26 pearls, +5 costs 32000 G and 57 pearls, +6 costs 64000 and 120 pearls, and a single +7 would cost a whopping 124000 G and 247 pearls. That is definitely thousands of gold.
