Ridley/Bowsers size

If Ridley isnt allowed in smash then why is Bowser in, his size varies. like in mario party 10 he's like 30 feet tall but in the mario and luigi series he's 7'9

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Ridley, at his smallest, still huge? He's also in a stage, so Ridley fighting Ridley would be weird. Nonetheless, Samus needs a rival. I guess Ridley wouldn't be as bad as Kraid...

  • Did some more research- Ridley's size is pretty consistent everwhere, save the first metroid game where he and Kraid were Samus's size due to software limitations. So, he's way too big to be added.

  • Yes I need a rival, Rundas is better than Ridley for that but I expected for Dark Samus but they put her as assistant trophy in the end, too bad. Bowser changes his size yes but surly using Kamek's magic like on Yoshi's Island but Ridley became big for intimidating purposes and making him small just don't feel like Ridley anymore

  • It's not that he's too big, it's more that he's disproportionate. Bowser can be scaled up and down because he's got a big head, big body, and medium limbs. Ridley has a huge head, tiny neck, enormous wings, boney body, etc. Pretty much, Bowser = Cartoony Ridley = Realistic. #FreeWolf

  • Well his realistic design might not fit.....

  • My issue with him is basically what Alex wrote. His proportions are really awkward to scale down. You'd basically end up with a flying skeleton if you shrink him down to about Bowser's size. That just doesn't look quite right. Though for the record, if they do ever find a way to do it without him looking weird, I'm all for it. I just don't find it likely right now.

  • I don't think Ridley is that hard to scale down. Other M's design of Ridley is the most proportionate and consistent, so that'd be the ideal choice. I think the main reason they've been avoiding him is because he'd be an enormous pain to balance without ruining his character.

  • Because Sakurai chooses who makes it in and I hope Ridley never becomes a playable character.

  • timid, I've seen that model and frankly, I think it looks terrible.

  • Ridley's size isn't consistent; while he's generally bigger than Samus, how much bigger varies from game to game (or even between boss fights - in his second fight in Metroid Prime 3, he's about 2/3 of the size that he was in the first fight in that game)

  • I actually kind of wish he wasn't too big. If he wasn't, he'd actually be a pretty cool character.
