The Pokebank subscription fee is a scam. It costs 5 dollars to use it. But you only ever use it once to bring over your cherished Pokemon. All other times you transferred in previous games you didn't have to pay. Game Freak gets plenty of income from the games themselves, so supporting their servers shouldn't be an issue.
