How come there isn't a "General" Community where I could ask this sort of question?

Also, I heard these haunting campfire ghost stories about the once "YouTube Community." Wasn't around to witness its demise. I'm guessing that was considered the "General (Gaming) Community." Lol.

Quite frankly, Miiverse was not designed for "general" discussion. It's designed for sharing our experiences playing games, answering and asking questions about games. Unfortunately, many users feel entitled to dismiss that notion. (Hence the redesign.) Honestly, there are many other places on the internet where you could talk about other things.

Something else I think many people take for granted is that most social media sites require users to be 13 years of age or older. Since many users of Nintendo are children, Miiverse can't particularly enforce that rule. Nintendo has to play it safe. A general discussion area would open the doors to politics and religion, and it really would not be an appropriate place for kids to interact.

Also it's a gaming social media, not a normal one

  • Have you seen the New Super Luigi U community? It's definitely the "general" community.

  • I agree with kat, though, i do think that there should a more general community where we could talk about game RELATED things, but not about specific games. maybe questions about troubleshooting, or just about games in general.

  • I'm going to third the notion for a generic community. Actually, they kind of did have that around E3 of last year when they had an E3 community. I wish they kept that around or evolved it.

  • You know, at least we can talk about movies and TV because of the Netfix and Hulu communitys. So that's pretty cool. Also, the YouTube community is still alive. I haven't had my 3ds for very long so they may taken down for awhile though.

  • A general gaming community doesn't really sound bad. A place where we could talk about retro games, or upcoming games, or even toys and gear, not so much a place to talk about a personal / first world problems.

  • That would be great. Do you think we could put it into action somehow?
