The moment they unveiled Rhythm Paradise Megamix during the livestream, I thought of you. I'd easily guessed that you'd be happy.

Truthfully, however, I was only interested in a handful of the games shown in the Nintendo Direct. SNES Virtual Console does give the New 3DS more exclusive software, but I lost interest the moment they said it uses the US versions. I was rather interested in Dragon Quest VII, though. I would've liked it more if they showcased a 3DS system update, or a frame-rate increase for StreetPass games.

  • I noticed something with the American Direct: there was no Reggie. He usually has some sort of presence in these Directs. Hope he's okay.

  • I'm not sure if I'd claim it as the best direct, but it was certainly one of my favourite directs. A new Kirby game, a EU release date and name for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Project Guard now featuring my favourite Star Fox character, Lost Reavers beta, more footage shown of Metroid Prime: Federation Force. I liked a lot about it, and I'm glad to see you're happy about Rhythm Paradise: Mega Mix.

  • Tbh i think Streetpass Mii Plaza has a fantastic frame rate already, it's one of the very few games i actually notice it in. There's certainly no other reason for Reggie to be absent, here's hoping he's back up soon. As i figured you'd be pleased about Planet Robobot and the amiibo. Looking forward to trying out the new Doctor copy ability! I'd given up hope on RP last E3, i'm so glad to see it!

  • Yes, i was half expecting to see a new classic Kirby game, on the Wii U. I certainly never expected another 3DS game, though i'll gladly take it! Also hyped to see the return of the Smash copy ability! I'll admit i wasn't too interested in Guard, i was hyping over Zero while they were talking about it, but i'll probably be getting it alongside Zero. I believe it's similar to Mario Maker?

  • Also, what do you think of the new Paper Mario? People have been drawing comparisons to SS, i know we all want a TTYD. Personally, i loved SS, i like all the Paper Marios the same amount, which is A TON, so i'm super hyped for CS!! They mentioned how they're always trying to find new ways to change the franchise, i'm cool with that, hype for seeing what they got, but we DO need another TTDY.

  • I'm hyped for Star Fox Zero as well, but my interest in Star Fox Guard outweighs it, Dillon's Rolling Western gave me an intrigue for unique tower defence games. As for the new Paper Mario... that was one of two negatives for me in this direct. I don't wish to judge so quickly, but it certainly looks more akin to Sticker Star than the first two Paper Mario games.

  • I never played Sticker Star, I ended up avoiding it when I found that it was yet another non-sucessor to the Paper Mario formula. I'm okay with games trying new things, but Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star seemed too large of a departure and didn't retain most of the elements I enjoyed of the two original Paper Mario games. I do hold those first two entries in high regard; both in my top 20.

  • Looks like Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE will be the sole provider of my desire for traditional turn based RPGs on my Wii U. That new Paper Mario does look beautiful though; I'll give it that. As for your other question regarding Star Fox Guard, it does indeed have a form of level sharer. You make tower defence challenges and can put them up online.

Just to clarify about StreetPass Mii Plaza's frame-rate, although the main Plaza and the built-in games cap at 60 FPS, the six separate games cap at 30 FPS, despite the GPU clearly having enough power to run them at 60 FPS with enough optimisation. DEAD OR ALIVE™ Dimensions proves it. If the built-in games like StreetPass Quest can be 60 FPS, why not the other six?

I was…kinda hoping for a new update for StreetPass Mii Plaza to be announced in the Nintendo Direct, that makes use of the New 3DS a bit more. Might be a bit of wishful thinking, but it's possible. After all, imagine if they introduced amiibo support into the Plaza!
