Luigi is a sidekick, yes. What is Daisy? An occasional tennis player? Tails won't get in because a third party series will never get more than one rep. Love interests/counter parts mean absolutely NOTHING. If they did, we would have Waluigi in by now. Luigi, Peach and Wario all have played major roles in games and have had their own games. Ridley is a Boss. He is specifically described by the creators of the game as a boss. The game's developer, Sakurai, has even stated himself that Ridley will not be in Smash due to his very BOSS-LIKE nature.

Thing about you argum3nt about Bandana Dee is that it's proven wrong. Marth/Lucina, Ike, Roy, and Little Mac all have movesets based around one object. Swords for some, and fists for LM. The moveset for Marth is all sword, but it depends on how the sword is used that makes the different moves.
